I was going through some posts on here and wanted to reply to them but thought I would just make another thread. I know, not another boxing and MMA thread! Hear me out, I compete in both. I guess you could say forum member Mr. President was my inspiration.
I love boxing and MMA and have been fortunate to compete in both sports. I have no preference over the other I enjoy fighting/training/watching both sports equally. For every dumb**** like "Mr. President" there is someone just like him on an MMA forum trashing boxing. The funny thing is, both of these kinds of people are equally pathetic. I guarantee you both sports have equal amounts of dumbass fighters and fans, Mr. President seeming to be right at the top.
I find myself defending boxing on MMA forums, and having to defend MMA on boxing forums. I am glad that I can see both combat sports for what they are
and not feel threatened by the others popularity. I can assure you training for both, they are equally as taxing on the body.
I have had training camps in both sports. They both require the same amount of grueling training to get into fighting shape. Blood, sweat, and tears are poured into both of these gyms I attend. Anybody questioning either one of these sports should walk a mile in the other guys shoes. YOU WOULDN'T ****ING MAKE IT!
MMA is the fastest growing sport in the country and I can understand why pure boxing fans are threatened. They shouldn't be, there is room for both sports.
I train at a pure boxing gym, and also at an independent MMA/grappling gym so I get the best of both worlds. Straight MMA guys with some striking experience get eaten up at the boxing gym. Pure boxers that want to get into MMA get manhandled like children by guys half their size. It goes both ways.
I don't have any delusions of changing anyones view, I am just telling you how it is coming from an unbiased source who enjoys and participates in both sports equally. Trashing either of the sports reeks of pettiness and inferiority complex. Kind of like talking **** on the guy who pulled the hot piece of ass in the bar that you didn't have the balls to talk to.
