    Is Tony Zale A ATG?

Is he? Give reason behind your answer?

I always have problems with Zale, great trilogy of fights with Graziano and he went out on his shield against Cerdan confirming what a tough man he was. My problem with Zale is that in an era deep with quality fighters he fought so few of them.
That said I guess a small matter of the second world war got in the way!

yes the world war got in the way, yet i feel that Zale is definately an ATG his trilogy with Rocky Graziano are 3 of the greatest fights in history.. Legendary ring announcer Don Dumphy said the first was the greatest fight he ever seen.

Do you not think though that there an awful lot of fighters missing from his resume Sonny?
Burley, La Motta, Williams, Charles, Booker etc
Without looking too deeply into timelines i'd be more comfortable with Zale if a couple more of those appeared on his record.

Yep they're not chopped liver The Conn win has to be the highlight there.
Also was incredibly brave against Cerdan he got a real beating there.

Lets be fair GJC Zale spent his prime years out of the ring and fighting in the World War when he returned to boxing he fought 7 fights in 9 months and being voted `Ring Fighter of the year`his 3 battles with Graziano are still talked about today some 60yrs on.. his loss to the great Marcel Cerdan was his final fight at 34yrs of age, Billy Conn was a brilliant fighter who as you know campaigned at heavyweight and very nearly beat the great Joe Louis

No i'll put my hands up I do judge Zale harshly, it's just for my money he reigned in as strong a MW era as there has been but there are just so many gaps in his resume. Tough fellow though no doubt of that.
