Are business Decisions considered as ducking an opponent?

Ok, i often hear people say that a guy is ducking someone because he knows they may win.

Well to me mayweather turning down 8 mil to fight margarito was not a business decision, since he was gonna get 8 mil, way more than fighting against Sharmba Mitchell or Arturo Gatti. Whether or not that would have been a big ppv sale, Mayweather still would have been paid. But to me he avoids any fighter who he thinks can beat him, no matter what the price is. That to me is ducking.

Now i will use Juan Diaz as an example. He chose to fight Michael Katsidis for 1.2 million dollars and to help unify the division over fighting lets say Nate Campbell for 200k. Now this is not rocket science. Diaz fighting Katsidis would not only be good for the sport but also a great business decision, making a million dollars. Fighting Campbell would be a dumb choice over this fight, he takes a small purse to fight someone who IMO he would beat easily, And i do not say that to make Campbell sound like a bum, hes a solid fighter and has worked his way up to this challenge. But Campbell has to view that from a business standpoint. Diaz not taking the fight does not mean hes ducking, it just wouldnt make any sense for him.

mexicans are warriors and would never duck anyone, mayweather has been ducking his entire career. you are a mexican nationalist, of coarse you are going to hate mayweather, he puts your fighters to shame. and this topic has been made at least 10 times a week for the past 4 months.

I didn't think of this until deliveryman said it last night.

The reason he fought Sharmba Mitchell was to go after Zab Judah, who was the king of the division at the time.

Delivery said (truthfully) that they were both southpaw, slick counterpunchers with quick hands, which is true. Seems like a good tune-up fight before going after Judah.

He probably would have gotten a lot from Judah (maybe not as much as he would have against Margarito), but he did know that becoming the undisputed champion with 3 ABC belts and The Ring belt would make sure that he would have star power to make big money in all his future fights.

The Margarito payday was a one time thing, without the benefit of assurance of future big paydays.

any person with plain and basic common sense in there brains knows that business decision is coward language for ducking. mayweather didnt fight cotto because it was a business decision to get the dlh fight which really meant he knew margarito would knock him out and he would never get the dlh fight. now ducking cotto is a business decision because supposedly he has no fans even though he is probably the biggest draw in the welterweight division??? only cowards make business moves.

It's called 'dodging' or least risk-highest reward. Something Floyd has been very good at throughout his career.

Nobody has yet explained why Mayweather would be scared to fight Margarito.
