Once I had become the world champion, I wanted to make sure I stayed the world champion and by doing that I had to agree to fight the world's number one fighter every time it was ordered by the body, I had to fight one of the world's top 10 fighters every time out and I also had to fight every few months to make as much money as possible in order to secure my families lives and enjoy lifes luxuries - which I'd certainly earned the right to. I wasn't prepared to go into a suicidal fight once I had become the world champion, I'd already done that to become the world champion!"

Eu: "Me and Audley Harrison couldn't be further apart. There is no comparison there. Infact, I'm insulted, I really am. I came up the hard way, I was forced to turn professional within 28 months of first hitting somebody with a gloved fist, because I needed money. When I came back to the UK in 1988, I lived in a tiny bedsit with a matress and a black binliner and worked two jobs, one at Debenhams and one at a Wimpy."

I started boxing when I was 16, it wasn't until I turned 23 that I had mastered the uppercut. When I went to school in New York, every afternoon and evening and every weekend I'd be in that gymnasium learning my craft and practising relentlessly, for hours on end."
