Comments Thread For: Hopkins: I Want To Beat Kovalev Better Than I Did Pavlik!

WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs) is not only looking to win, he's looking to win big when he faces the dangerous WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs) in an HBO televised unification on November 8th.

Hopkins, nearly 50-years-old, wants to eclipse one of his biggest career victories - the 2008 HBO televised twelve round domination of then undefeated, and heavily favored to win, Kelly Pavlik. In that fight, Hopkins turned back the clock and boxed Pavlik's ears off. Pavlik, who met Hopkins at a catch-weight of 170-pounds, was never the same fighter.

The difference is Pavlik does not have the background that Kovalev has, not to mention the power. B-Hop those PEDs won't save you this time buddy.

Pavlik beat better fighters and had a similar ko percentage and was picked to hurt and retire Hopkins

Difference is Pavlik is a Middleweight that moved up 10 lbs in weight.

              Kovalev is a legitimate LHW.

People on here like to diss Pavlik, do your research Pavlik was very good, he to Jermaine taylors O - remeber Taylor was undisputed.. he KO'd Miranda when Miranda was at his best and undefeated - pavlik could punch and box, he also made adjustments - the only 2 people he lost to where Bhop and Sergio Martinez when sergio was doing his thing - at this stage Pavlik was better than kovalov - notice how kovalov doesnt set traps, all he has is power and once its taken away he will be hancuffed.. and some lame on here is talking about Hopkins on PEDs good bandwagon monkey see monkey do excuse, off the record if he is, I could care less he is months shy of 50 years ***'n old - wake up and put this dude in perspective, that undercover racism comes out always with bhop or floyd people cannot stand their level of success, in team sports its spread out, but in boxing its givin to one person and thats the fighter.. real fight fans remember Bhops relevance in the 90's, 2000's, and the now 's (not sure what to call this decade-lol)

Hopkins isn't quite wrong when bringing Pavlik into equation -- grandpa rough-hosed Pavlik and didn't allow him to use his long-long punching hands... B-Hop has a point, but he better kept it for himself...
