    Nas must be the GOAT

    Just think about it. How many people have rapped a song backwards, made a hot song from whispering to yelling, tons of commercial success, off the hook lyrics on almost every track with the exception of that one with Ginuwine and Oochie Wally, made a song with his father, made a song with his wife, made a song to children everywhere, 4 distinct styles (Nasty Nas, flossin Nas, etc etc), sung in a song (Me & You), been in the rap game for 10 years +, 2 distinct classic albums with a handful of very solid albums, Best battle track of all time (at least top 3...), caused a handful of copycat rappers (Jay, etc etc). Need I go on?

    Let me know if you agree with me and why or why not.

    I can see the legitimacy in that arguement. Nas is easily the greatest rapper of the past 10+ years. Jay-Z my ass.

        We all have an opinion on who is the GOAT, there's been a handfull MC's that can make a justifiable claim to that title, and Nas is one of those MC's.

            Well, as far as hip hop goes, when I consider the word "great", i think lyrical ability. In that Regard, I would say Rakim is greater than Nas, not as an artist, but as an MC, lyrically. However, as an artist, Nas has definently eclipsed Rakim in that regard, for the reasons you've stated in your initial post. That's why I said, there's a justifiable case to be made for Nas, as is for Rakim, LL, Scarface, KRS-ONE, Chuck D.....I must disagree with anyone that calls Jay-Z the GOAT, I can't fit him in the top ten, in my opinion.

              who else can you name with a 5 mic album in the 80's, 90's, and 00's... yeah thats right..

                I second that. Scarface has been consistent for almost two decades. Nas hasn't been that consistent in my opinion. Scarface has never had a weak solo album.

                  i rate scarface very very very highly and as ive said enough times before dont like jay-z but can respect him...to a point, although biting lost most of that

                  nas i have thought for ages is the GOAT but that may be just because hes my favourite rapper of all time

                    Nas hasn't really had a weak album other then Nastradamus. The rest were top notch. And of course he's always got Illmatic to fall back on...
