Come on folks, rappers rap and gang ****ers **** and very few fall into both categories...I remember Too Short being asked in an interview back in 1995 if he really pimped, and he was all "Don't you think they'd arrest me at my concerts if I did?" One guy I know for a fact was doing crazy stuff was Akon. He was famous in Hudson County and Jersey City well before "Locked Up". His crew Block Royal were a car theft ring from Woodlawn Avenue and everyone knew who they were.

Most old school rappers grew up around crime. Not all of them were gang ****ers or hustlers - lots and lots of exaggerating to sell albums and create images.

And in 2008, it's not even a prereq. We've got rappers coming out of everywhere...

Lots of "gangsta rappers" are created...The dead/imprisoned don't record... and that's where most gangstas and hustlas end up quickly
