Don't ask, don't tell" was the official United States policy on military service by gay men, bisexuals, and lesbians, instituted by the Clinton Administration. The policy was issued under Department of Defense Directive 1304.26 on December 21, 1993.

The policy prohibited military personnel from discriminating against or harassing closeted ****sexual or bisexual service members or applicants, while barring openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons from military service.

Looking back, was this a good policy?

At the time it was fine. Nowadays it's outdated because you don't ask someone if they are gay or lesbian or vegan because they will let you know within five minutes.

Idk that it was good or bad. I'd suggest it was neutral more than it was either good or bad. Obviously there was problems with it cuz its a huge issue for some military folks, but it shouldn't matter if you are gay or straight if you wanna serve your country so they shouldn't have been kept out.

It was a chickenshyt policy that allowed Clinton to pander to gays without actually doing anything for them specifically. He didn’t lift the ban on gays in the military, because there were still a lot of ******** voters who would be against it. It was just like his admission he had smoked weed but never inhaled. Just dumb as f-ck. Who really cares. Think about it-a ton of people hate ******s and gays, they express that hate by not allowing them to risk dying or being severely injured, maimed or crippled. Does that really make sense?

If a ****** or ****sexual wants to risk their life in service to their country, they should be allowed to. I'm the son and grandson of Army men. I'm pretty sure my grandmothers and my mother wouldn't give a **** ass if the person who ended up saving my grandfather, father or uncle's life in the battlefield would've been a ****** or gay.

Besides, most war is cyber now. I don't think if the best cyber warfare expert got a sex change it would suddenly make them unable to serve.
