True detective season one is the greatest series of all time

I first saw it when I was more inexperienced, and I rewatched it again more than half a decade later during the quarantine and it is even better than I remembered it. I picked up on themes and nuances I didn't notice before.

The storyline, the philosophy, the cinematography, the acting are phenomenal. They are perfect. This series propelled mathew mac way up high there in my list of greatest actors.

The storyline, characters, the themes, the ideas explored, and the ending are all so ****ing perfect and conplete. Nobody has ever crafted a more perfect episodic series.

As a cinema nut and connieussiuer... this series blows my ****ing mind. It is one of the greatest storytelling achievements of our generation.

Rust ****ing cohle. One of the greatest characters ever created.

He represents the goodness of beings existing that were completely and utterly abandoned by God.

He is a flower of darkness, emptiness and chaos... and in the end he finds meaning.

He is a star in the void. Completely surrounded by nothingness and yet it can't completely consume him. It represents our life if there is no God. Living in an existence completely devoid of meaning, and yet by the very nature of our being, proving that everything is not meaninglessness, because although we are surrounded by blackness, we are separate from it.

Yea it was pretty fooking good. That first season was amazing & probably in my top ten specific seasons of any series & probably in the top 3 (Fargo has a few seasons I really dig iirc) for series that have one season plot lines.
