    Just ask Beer about it.

If you join any branch, join the Chair Force. Out of all the branches, they do the least amount of work from what I’ve heard. Physically anyways. Chair Force are the support branch of the military, so a lot of what they do is administrative, unless you’re a pilot.

I used to work with a bunch of marines. They were all crazy in one way or another. Marines had to do the crazy sh#t that none of the other branches had to do.

I wouldn’t join the military. You’re essentially signing your life away for 4 years. You are no longer a civilian. You’re property of the USA military. Then you have to come home and adjust to civilian life, which from what I’m told, can be hard.

And to get all of those benefits, you need to get at the very least a general discharge. No abandoning your post. That’ll get you a dishonorable discharge and possible military jail. Bye bye to VA benefits.

One route to choose, would be reserves. Do any reserve component to any branch. You still go through basic, but you’re essentially part time military. You go away to train like once a week every month or something, I forget what it is exactly. Go to a base that’s kinda close to where you live. Same benefits as full time military, but you still have a life.

I got a bunch of friends that went into the military. Some went career and are starting to retire after only 20 years. The people that stood in and were specialized got signing bonus and moving perks.

The ones that got out earlier got the GI bill, VA mortgages, health benefits etc. Also if they specialized in a trade while in the forces they can seek jobs as a civilian since they are experienced.

I don't know why some are bashing it. If you have no direction in live this is always a positive direction to go.

It's not for everyone though. Many people can't take being treated like schit and being told what to do every second of the day.

I'm a veteran who served overseas.

Although some of the "perks" are beneficial, do not be under the impression that it is golden slippers given out by the govt. Tuitions being *completely* paid is not a true reality, VA loans do not cover complete home purchases nor give options for "no money down" in all cases. They are very helpful but not complete carte blanche for college educations or home purchases.

The 20 year retirement is probably the best benefit from military service but many (like myself) don't see military service for two decades as a choice they want to endeavor, not just for fear of having to be in an actual conflict, but the rigors of military life even during peacetime.

Serving our country is a noble thing, and it gives you the opportunity to grow as a man/woman/person, just don't paint it all as a rosy path of lavish benefits, because it is not.

Back in my day, there was the Draft.
It's actually unconstitutional--involuntary servitude. That's why they made you take a step forward, that you've "voluntarilly" given up your constitutional rights. As we know Ali, and many others, refused to take that step forward.

Many then went into hiding, went to Canada etc. The so-called Government proclaimed the "Domino Theory" that if S. Vietnam fell to the "Communists" [or Comma-nists as LBJ called them], they'd soon be in CA or HI or such shyt.

Well S Vietnam fell and at least 58,000 young Americans died along with some 4 million Vietnamese.
By 1995, Clinton began trade relations with Vietnam and last week, ***** happily went to Vietnam for that [fake] summit with N. Korea.

Of course John Fitzgerald Kennedy--the last President of the United States--ordered the withdrawal of the first 1000 troops and in NSAMs stated by 1965 all troops would be withdrawn.

LBJ and co-conspirators issued their own NSAM within 48 hours of the Assassination laying the groundwork for their planned war. Read the excellent book by Army Intel Major John Newman proving that the Joint Chiefs reversed Kennedy's withdrawal order while he was still alive--knowing that he'd be dead in a day. Book is JFK and Vietnam.

And now the US Govt itself admits that their was no North Vietnamese torpedo boat attack on the US Destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin, that was to lead to the War on Vietnam. It was NSA operatives who radioed a fictitious "account."

I won't get into what really happened on 9/11/01 here. Too lengthy. As you might realize nothing like the public absurdities and impossibilities proclaimed.

RE the draft in my day, I'm so glad that when my college deferment was ended, my # in the subsequent draft lottery was high enough so that I was not drafted as I did not want to serve the regime that killed President Kennedy and wages war on Mankind.

To me "the country" is its people, not the monsters in the government and beyond.

You don't take **** every second of the day. That is only in boot camp. They all tell me it is like going to work everyday and as long as you follow the format you are fine.

Its actually much easier than a regular job. I used to get 1.5hr lunches to go workout. Just as a lower rank u gotta clean the head. Things get better on the 2nd enlistment though, 2 bad i was young and dumb to realize that now. Id be retired in 2 yrs at age 37.

Lol it’s no cake walk. I was in for 5 years and seven months. It was supposed to be 4 years but I got stop Lossed and involuntarily extended for Afghanistan.
I had a non combat MOS and a high ASVAB score. I thought I was going to be sitting somewhere in an office fixing equipment for the grunts. Instead I got attached to a combat unit and became one of the grunts because they didn’t know what else to do with me. I deployed twice once to Baghdad Iraq FOB loyalty. The second time to FOB solerno in Afghanistan. The rest of the time I spent training to deploy or doing some ****** brainless detail. If I could do it over I would have said no to the ARMY and joined the Air Force. Why? Better pay, shorter deployments, hotter enlisted females. That was my a short explanation of my experience
