This. Unless the waiter or some employee of the restaurant was spinning it, it's not their fault.

When you go to a Chinese restaurant and they have one of these at the table, it's up to the customer to know how to use it. Or watch their baby from spinning it. I mean is the restaurant expected to have someone supervising each table so this doesn't happen?

I'm sorry the baby got burned but the restaurant shouldn't have to fork over a single cent here. Accidents happen in life and this was one of them.

Stuff like this pisses me off though. The fact that the restaurant had to even settle out of court. Again unless an employee pushed it (which they didn't), or the table spinner or whatever the hell it's called was defective, it's not their fault. People feel like they can just sue for anything. I mean if I'm at a restaurant, and trip over my own two feet and break my hip, do I get to sue because it happened at their establishment? Is my walking inside of their establishment now their responsibility too? If I take my kid to a restaurant and my kid is playing under the table and he knocks a glass off the table that shatters on his head, is that the restaurant's fault? Should I be able to sue for that?

My comment was exactly that. The parents should be sued for bad parenting. Letting their baby play around the table without properly watching it.
