In part yes. But there is two sides of the coin. America believes that it would ensure better global security and stability if it were them to gain control of the oil rather then radical dictatorships who are inherently sadistic.

    Oil=Power
One of the main unofficial reasons Bush wanted to destabilize Saddam. He had one of the largest armies in the world and had an ample amount of oil. He was a master manipulator and was beginning to sympathize with the Arab world portraying a sense of spiritual awakening, spreading a notion that it's them vs the United States. He was trying to rally the countries behind him because he knew America wanted to take him out. He was a lose cannon and there was no line he wouldn't cross. You look at ISIS gaining control of Iraq now and how they have all the oil translating into huge wealth and a better military. Much of the middle east are not our friends. And we surely don't want to these nations calling for the destruction of Israel to become powerful

Assad didn't start being a dictator in 2014, middle east is a violent multi-conflictual area that can only be held with an iron hand. He was just the next in line in the agenda after Khadafi.

        yeah......

since 90/95% of syrian oil was already going to EU/Turkey BEFORE the civil war.

had to go to war for that remaining 5%.

almost every arab dictator faced challenges to power in 2011.

          arab spring remember?

tunisia, egypt, libya, syria, yemen, bahrain, kuwait, lebanon, oman, morocco, jordan, saudi arabia, etc.

          american foes and friends alike.

some led to overthrown govt, tunisia, libya, egypt.

some the opposition was crushed, bahrain.

some the fighting is ongoing, yemen and syria.

some changed policies to appease protestors, lebanon , morocco, jordan.

some threw money and benefits at the protestors, saudi, kuwait.

it's like ppl don't watch/read the news or something.

i'll explain as best as i can.

            4 major factions.

syrian assad gov't supported by iran, hezbollah and russia.

free syrian army and allies supported by saudi arabia, uae and gcc also by us, nato, eu.

isil/isis and other groups. opposing everyone. syria, kurds, iran, saudis, etc.

kurds. liked by no one. hard to tell who their friends are. west sympathise with them but western ally turkey hates them. iranians and arabs hate them too.

U.S./NATO/GCC was NOT bombing Syrian gov't. They were bombing just ISIS/ISIL/etc.

Russia is bombing everyone opposed to Syrian gov't.

            That's difference.

There was a point when US allies, NATO and GCC, was pressuring US to attack Syrian gov't.

Our GCC allies, Saudi, UAE, etc. wanted Assad gone.

EU/NATO also was pushing US to do same.

Why EU/NATO wanted Assad gone so bad?

Google which countries has major orders with Airbus. Who just bought French Rafale fighters, EUROfighter Typhoon, French AMX Leclerc tanks, etc.

1 country is trying to order hundreds of unneeded German Leopard 2 tanks. This country has so many American M-1/M-60 tanks that half are in storage. Yet why are they trying to buy hundreds of German tanks?

GCC who oppose Assad gains influence thru 2 things. Selling oil and buying expensive crap, usually Aircraft and weapons.

I'm sure it was completely spontaneous, and there was no foreign intervention behind those movements...

I don't know why you keep bringing up Europe's oil importations either. After America would have "stabilized" the country, they would have to buy it from the US, so that they would be energetically dependent.

im sure there was foreign intervention. from every side. us and countries that were friend and foe.

i bring up oil imports to show who had more interest the country. is that hard to understand?

and you keep talking about america this and that.

america didn't want to be involved.

EU and GCC (Qatar) pressured US to get involved in Libya.

EU and GCC (Saudi, UAE) tried the same but ***** didn't said no this time.

US is NOT attacking syria govt. EU/NATO can't without U.S. help. Their military are paper tigers.

                  1. ***** didn't want to get involved.
                  2. Russia is a Syrian ally, been so since the 1950's.
                  3. Libya and Egypt showed "DEMOCRACY" sucks in ME

ppl just want to spout their bias or parrot someone else's bias to blab conspiracy theories.

                    yes U.S. gets involved a lot, it's a superpower.

yes U.S. tries to push its interest, everyone does.

but not everything is some grand u.s. plan.

u.s. intelligence, politicians, govt are pretty incompetent.

your conspiracy theories give them too much credit.

most u.s. govt officials probably didn't know what libya, syria was until they saw it on CNN and asked their aide to google it and brief them.

read newspapers watch CNN, BBC, al Jazeera and even Russia Today.

                    know the basic facts.

don't just parrot some crap you heard on youtube.

Some basic facts are the US were in fact supporting ********* cells which we've funded. Who in tern were attaching Syrian civilian population. Who we blamed on the Syrian government which were in tern proven false by Russian and Chinese independent investigation. And now we don't deny. Basic facts.
