So I live in downtown Vancouver BC...the English Bay neighbourhood. It's a pretty urban city but with an amazing natural environment. Most nights I walk my dog along the seawall and for the second time this week we come within a few feet of a wild Coyote. This thing has absolutely no fear of people or my crazy pitbull who desperately wants at it. It's amazing what you see in this city. Anyways I start looking for videos of Coyotes and found this one in Northern BC. It shows you how brazen these things can be.

you're very lucky it wasn't hungry and it didn't attack you and your dog
I studied coyotes in high school, here's a tip that could save your life: if you run into one again it's very easy to determine if the coyote is hungry, all you have to do is look at it's front paws, usually when they're hungry they're holding a fork and a knife, pick up your dog and run but if the coyote is wearing a bib forget your dog there's no time save yourself
here's a rare photo of a hungry coyote ready to attack
be safe out there

Coyotes are mostly scavengers and rarely attack humans. They do, however, attack small animals like chickens etc and are considered as pests in some counties. Where i live you get $75 a hide from the county if you turn a dead one in.
