David Beckham is mediocre soccer player! Not even 100 ATG!

I just don't get it! How damn Beckham is that popular?

He was always been mediocre football player. He has neither physical nor technical skills. All he has are crosses and "dead balls". He was average at best. Nothing special.

Amazing hype job! Most overrated player of all time! Not even 100 ATG probably.

Props to "****e Girl" Victoria who made amazing job popularizing him!

Oh come off it with this 'medicore at best' malarky.

Maybe he's not a Top 100 ATG, I don't know enough about football history. However, that man could have me scoring headers. His crosses and passes were sensational, he could make the ball bounce off my head and go in without me even making an effort. I know you said that's all he had but that's just innacurate. Not to mention when you can pass/cross at a level that he did then that makes you a great player outright even if you're not incredibly skillful or athletic.

Not to mention his performance against Greece in the '02 WC Qualifiers which was an ATG one.

He was a world class player in his day.

Does anyone think Beckham is an all time great?

For me he seemed to underrated if anything. His delivery from wide positions is certainly the best I have seen in my life time of watching football.

uhh, i'm not sure if you're not aware of this, but beckham was the best looking athlete on the planet for several years. he married to a british starlet. dude was box office.

in addition, he's a great player near the net. great, great foot on that dude.

i am not qualified in the least to speculate about the 100 best soccer / footballers of all time, but beckham was a very good player. very good. maybe great. no shlub, for sure.

He looked the part, scored crucial goals for England and the biggest club in it, married a member of the most famous band from the UK in the 90s... Not to mention he wasn't a bad player either, lacked silky skills and pace you see from today's stars but always delivered a good cross, renowned for his free kicks, good array of passing ability all round - which is crucial for a midfielder.

I've seen people claim he is one of England's best ever players which simply isn't true. His career defining moment took place in a world cup qualifying game, which tells me everything.

He was borderline world class on his best day for me.

I've said this before, but no-one outside of Europe would have the first idea of who he is if not for his looks.

Obviously I've never sat at made a list at depth but I honestly think Beckham would have a tough time cracking the top 3-400 of all time players If I were to take the time to do it. Too many top players about.

That's not even trying to discredit the bloke, he won plenty in his career. I just don't think he was that good.

I'll give him the free kick against Ecuador in '06 and the pen against the Argies (A pretty ****e pen that should've been saved). Without the Greece goal we would've breezed through a playoff like Germany did anyway.

He missed 2 crucial pens at Euro 2004 which essentially got us knocked out and also managed to miss a pen in the key qualifying game for that tournament against Turkey. He got sent off against the Argies which was probably the key factor in us not going through before pens in '98.

Hit and miss really. More so miss for a so called leader.

How do you even pick 100 best players???...

I mean there is probably at least 30/40+ genuine legends I am talking Van Basten.. Ronaldo.. Zidane.. Pele.. Maradona.. Etc and so much more..

Beckham was a world class player one of the best passers of the ball ever.. ii mean this guy could whip in a cross from ANYWHERE and it could be threatening.. he had no pace or skills to beat a man but it didn't matter.. he would just drop it on a strikers head before a fullback could blink..

He was one of the best right sided players of his era.. + English of course he would be well known.. look at Rooney.. he looks like ****in shrek but is known worldwide..

But his looks and popstar wife elevated him + the fact people in England wanted to kill him after the world cup in 98 but he redeemed himself

How the **** can you be classed as a great winger when you have 'no pace or skill to beat a man'?

Rooney has far more footballing ability than Beckham ever had, that's why he's known.
