I mean fighting is one thing but trying to injure or maim is another.

If the age difference was so great I wouldn't expect my kid to win (but I would against anyone his own age). I'd run and break it up, probably grab the guy and snarl in his face Clint Eastwood style and hopefully make him **** himself. I'd report his parents to social services or something. I'd then realise it's time my kid became a pipe hitting town tough and teach him how to throw a right hand like Tommy Hearns and dig deep like Alex Arthur.

Man something similar happened to me, cept my son is 8 & the kid was 12. However he wasn't really winnning. Because their friends & my son was holding his own, but I could tell he was kinda scared so after he dropped the kid finally, he gave the kid his back, then the other boy grabbed him from behind & body slammed him.

I came outside then & stopped the fight & ran the 12 year old home & told him that if he mad, tell his daddy come c me. Then I took my boy inside & told him you never, ever give your back to an enemy. If you're scared that's all the more reason to be alert. If I see you do some dumb ***** like that again, I'll beat your a$$.

i would break it up. i think you should teach your kids to defend themselves but you cant let a 5 year old get beat up by a much older kid.

kids do fight though, idk whats wrong with the ****ing pshychopaths that claim they would beat up the other kid or even feel an impulse to do so. kids get hurt, if they dont hurt eachother they hurt themselves. in fact thats a big part of how kids learn. its not a big deal, a grown man beating up a 12 year old is though.
