Anyone familiar with his work?

What would be the best place for a newbie to Chomsky to start?

I've taken a copy of; Media Control: The Spectacular Achievements of Propaganda out of my local library this afternoon, and will make a start on that later.

But after that what are your recommendations?

The dude's written a lot of **** so it's hard to pin down anything in particular.
"Hegemony or survival: America's quest for global dominance" wasn't a bad read. "Rogue States" was alright. "Language and Politics" seems worthwhile (Chomsky is a linguist by specialty) and you can access it online:


Those are just a couple examples, again the dude has written a lot of ****.

I think his criticism of the modern propaganda machine aka the mainstream media in Manufacturing Consent is a fine place to start.

All solid books by Chomsky. Hard to find but great nonetheless. If you don't like these, then Chomsky isn't for you.
