Drogba and Torres are world class but the difference between them is that Torres can do it by himself with not so great service from an average Liverpool side, he's a machine. Drogba needs quality around him (e.g. Anelka) otherwise he just moans about the service and has a dissapointing game. I don't think Drogba would be so clinical if it wasn't for the rest of the Chelsea team around him and if you put him in a lesser side he wouldn't do too well, whereas if you put Torres in a lesser side he would still find ways to score despite the lack of quality.

Sounds like im just cussing Drogba but it's just my opinion i hate Chelsea and Liverpool so you can't really say i'm biased. Rooney always gets compared to those 2 and rubbished because he isn't as clinical in front of goal, but he's a completley different player and i don't see him as a main goalscorer, only reason he's scored so many this season is because he's been made to play that way due to the departure of Ronaldo.

Well...lets weigh out the options...

Drogba is 31 years old....a world class striker....Torres, would be the closest thing i would swap rooney for...But i still wouldnt, Because rooney carries the united team....hes the 1 that sets the pace....he gets the fans going, torres is an unbelievable striker...and for the last 2 years ive said i think hes the best striker in the world...

But what rooney brings to the team is something no other striker does...more then just goals...theres no red tinted glasses on here, just a person who sees more then the glory...Thats why united love players like anderson so much, even if he messes up, he will do all he can to get it back, hes young, still learning (as rooney is)...as im sure people will see him up there with the best in years to come....

I wonder who the guys on Match of the day would pick out of them 3 taking age/experience/ability and every other attribute into consideration .... I think i know who they would pick....

Well i didn't mention age but that is a factor, is Drogba really that old? but anyway im talking quality of striker and i think Drogba and Torres is just plain above Rooney especially Torres. Rooney works hard no doubt and thats nice and everything but he is like a slightly better version of Tevez, runs around alot and doesn't score much compared to the top strikers.

It depends what you want from a striker really but for me goals/Individual brilliance> Hard work/tracking back when it comes to strikers. Im interested what fans (other then United ones) actually think of Rooney vs Torres etc i just don't think he matches up well to the very top class strikers.

I'm a United fan but clearly Torres is better. But then again as i said Rooney is not an out and out striker he's a supporting striker getting played as a striker due to Ronaldo's departure.

There's not many strikers in the world I'd pick over Drogba for charging at a defense alone.
