            Many thanks, interesting stuff.

            Didn't they work out a way to put some basic colours into black and white films? I'm sure I heard about technology like that, subtly predicts some colours faintly based on the depth and shades.

              If you want a good doc on the 1st war i would get World War 1 : The Great War - Complete BBC Series (7 Disc Box Set) [DVD] it was made in the 1960's and is one of the best and most detailed documentary's i have ever watched but its very long.
