    The History of Gaming

I have been playing video games for 26 years now. I started with a computer that had a staggering 48k of RAM. Yes. 48k. It had insufficient RAM to display this image:

On this I played classics like Manic Miner

    Dizzy

    and Finders Keepers

This machine itself had rubber keys and would fit on a bookcase

I later expanded my horizons and bought the 128k version of the machine.

Honestly I think there's a specific cutoff range for everyone. I can't imagine getting enjoyment out of those Atari-style games, and even though I started in the late NES era I have very few fond memories of it in retrospect. Most of my nostalgia is 16 and 32-bit, as well as the PC games of that era. I did however play the Zork games on an Apple II quite a lot.

Well then I got my trusty 128k+ with built in tape player.

The extra capacity meant that games could get more sophisticated and the music got better. As well as games based on movies

There were some quite good arcade conversions

        And some IPs too

I had some great times playing that last game, Myth, while listening to the Bolt Thrower album Realm of Chaos.

I was born too late. I stared on the ps1, then the ps2 and now the xbox 360.

The first console I owned was the NES which was actually owned by my brother but it was fun as hell. I remember putting the gun in my pocket or inside my pants when playing duck hunt and using my quick draw skills, LOL.

What was badass was that my grandmother owned an arcade and I use to constantly play games there and had an unlimited number of lives.

I started with a calculator game, game and watch, then ATARI 2600. The old games are based on points and high scores not like today where we play it for the endings.
