Sony has announced some happy news for its platforms. The PlayStation 3 is doing much better so far this year, and the PSP isn't posting bad numbers at all either.
The PS3 racked up 1.56 million sold units in Q1 of 2008 - double than what it was in Q1 2007. At the same period last year, sales for the consoles were only around 700,000.
Sony says 23 million software units were sold in the same period this year for the PS3. No cash totals were given out for both hardware and software so far, but we'll update you if Sony decides to be open with it soon.
Sony's handheld posted an impressive 3.72 million this past quarter, while the aging PlayStation 2 still has plenty of selling power with 1.51 million sold. Stick around for more industry reports.
