Thought your first spar was bad checkout mine

first of all im gunna try to get this video on here sometime within the next week.

Ok first of all ive been boxing for about 5-6 weeks now and ive been sparring for maybe three weeks of that. ive pretty much been a quick learner so my trainer wanted to put me in a spar and whatever thats cool i feel i can protect myself and give some damage also. We get to gym and there is alot of people in there so im just lookn around sizing everyone up. Of course the one guy i was like damn im glad i don't have to fight him i get matched up with him. So mine and his trainer were talkn so he had only one fight and he told him and his boxer that i was a green fighter. They made it sound like he wasn't that good and when they were saying that he only had one fight. Yeah i was nervous it was my first time in the ring but once the bell rang i was ready to fight and i did great for about the first minute: im movin my body working the jab avoiding punches all that good stuff. Then i was slippin right and left i came out with a right straight bam he saw it coming from a mile away and hit me with a right hand that everyone in the gym felt anyways i get knocked the **** out. So as im waking up one of the guys who owns the gym comes out and says why the **** did you match him with him. My trainer gets up pissed he doesn't know whats going on. This guy had 1 and 1/2 years EXPERIENCE which the guy failed to mention. so now my trainer is furious everyone is yelling in spanish i dont know spanish. Well i guess the other trainer said that i looked like i was good. What a bunch of bull**** he knew that i didnt have barely any experience. Then to make it worse my trainer started to try and spar with the other trainer so he could knock him out. so that when on for awhile and the trainer got it freakn bad from the owner in front everyone so that was cool. well im not to upset but im just mad because i didnt get a good match because ive trainin my ass off but there are know hard feelings i just wanna get back in the damn ring with a fair match and do what i love.

yeah my trainer kicks ass. I dont agree with versatile because it wasnt fair at all and i didnt learn anything from it, isnt that the point of a spar is to learn. If anything he could've adjusted to me and my level of experience. Yeah i respect professionals, one thing that is good i got being knocked out of the way so there is nothing more to be afraid of. It really hasnt affected me at all i just wanna train harder and get on his level and return the ass kickn

dont let what happened break you. i see guys come in, eat some leather and never come back. don't be that guy, keep coming back. dont let that ruin your passion for what you love.

on a side note, i think it'd be a good idea for you to learn some clinching if you already don't know how. then again i dont know how strong you are, strength is very important when clinching. have a friend go nuts on your body and just practice grabbing a bit above his elbows in a counterclockwise short looping fashion with the inside of where your forearm connects to your arm. get good at it and you can make anyone stop hitting you, at any time

i highly recommend that on fridays, you put extra work into doing alot of strong jabbing and returning that lead hand to your guard quickly, don't jab from the waist... if you're short, put extra time into practacing your hooks, if you're tall, put that extra time into practacing your straight right hand. do it on fridays though, because when I say 'extra work' i mean making that punching muscle group sore to the point where you'll hit like a bum the next day, most gyms are m-f so you do that on a friday and you don't need to worry about sparring with really sore muscles. idea is to punch until muscular failure while maintaining proper form, 4-5 times.

i did this with the jab, but before i ever went to the gym, i used to punch til muscular failure with 2 wrist weights on my left hand. take off the weights then punch til muscular failure without em. now i have a jab from another planet, by far it's my best tool, just letting you know what worked for me. i even put 4 wraps on my left hand w/ a 16oz glove and went outside and jabbed the brick side of my house til muscular fatigue. gotta think outside the box with your training methods.
