    Gym (Trainer) Dillema

My gym is part of a larger building...

So I go the the building with my gear reading to go boxing and there was a post that said it was closed this week.

This is the second week in a row that my trainer closed the gym.

And it's not the first time...throughout this summer (time I've been going boxing) he would always close the gym for a few days or something and his reason was that he didn't feel like coming that day or it was too hot to leave the house or some bull**** like that.

He's basically a lazy guy...good at some times, but generally not a good trainer.

But that gym is the only option I have.

Should I keep going to the gym and put up with this or should I buy a heavybag, jump rope, and speedbag and set it up in my basement?

I know sparring is gonna be out, but I'll probably be training more than I'd do in that gym.

Since you have no other gym options, keep going there until youdo get other options. make a gym at home as well, where you can work out whenever Trainer McFlaky decides to stay at home.

I probably won't be able to get to another gym probably 3 years when I start dorming for college. And that's if I can still box while being in college. By then, I'll know if I have something good going on for me in boxing.

And my parents won't help me out with buying stuff since I'm already going to a gym.

So I should just keep going to the gym?

Keep going to the gym. Keep bugging your parents, until they get you what you need.

You're 15. Why are you worried about college, lol?

But yeah, technique is the most important thing if you want to advance in the sport (which is what it seems you intend to do). If you have no one to teach you the proper technique and if you have no LIVE opponents to spar with...you won't get better. Simple as.

I'm not worried about it, just thinking ahead.

Yeah, I know I really need a trainer and the sparring, that's what's keeping me from not going to the gym and training at home.

So I'm gonna keep training at that gym and probably buy some stuff for home to train when the gym is closed.

i bet you there's another gym by where you're at

I feel you on the sparring though, our top heavyweight's been out for a week due to dislocated shoulder, and I dont have anyone to spar with. the only other heavyweight that comes in, is too out of shape to spar. coach threw me a bone the other day and asked a guy who weighed abut 180 to get in the ring with me. i weigh about 260 so I outweigh him by a good 80 lbs, and im real good at puttin all my weight into a fast heavy jab that's real snappy and I turn it over too, but anyway..Not ****ting you this guy's name is rick james. and he's black...guessing he started boxing cuz of that name. We felt each other out until I learned his angles and started slipping his jab and delivering my big jab to his body. he quit after a round but coach made him get back in the ring...he gets back in and i say '20%' real low. he's like 'nah' so I come with a big jab right on his chin as he grimaces and moves away.. i dart in with a jab to his body and he complains of a lowblow but it was on the beltline. He finished the 2nd round, which at the end of it i was ****ing on his body with him on the ropes not punching at all, after that he quit and complained of a hurt jaw from the 1 jab i caught him with. I sparred a middleweight that was tougher than this guy...i need to find better competition, my gym honestly is a weak one with the top heavyweight out of commission

There's none at my city, but there might be one 20-30 minutes away if I take the train.
