    fighting weight

how does a fighter determin what weight he should fight in?
Should he push his body to the extreme or is there a better wasy to find out what weight your body can reach.

Some people say to just fit in a comfortable natural weight class and others say go to one where you barely make it cutting weight before a weigh-in.

I think one that's comfortable for you, but I haven't had a fight yet, so I don't know.

hm.. well i think that u should push yourself, not till you are starving yourself, but to the fact that ur at ur lowest body fat. i mean.. if ur naturally 158 and gotta lil baby fat, but u can get to 147 wouldnt fighting at a lower weight be beneficial seeing as how ur fighting smaller kids.

It depends on how advanced you are, and on how fit you are (those two things normally go hand in hand). If you're just starting out, you probably shouldn't worry too much about it, unless you're fat (in which case boxing will be an uphill battle, even more than usual).
As you gain experience, your fitness level and bodycomposition changes, and you'll have a lower BF%, which probably means a lower weight division.
If you're really young, and not fully grown, which is the best time to start boxing if you want to accomplish something, then you shouldn't worry too much about it, and just fight at the weight you're at.

well obviously u shouldnt be fighting fat, but to my way of thinking its not worth cutting weight dramtically in the amatuer game. I cut about a kilo before a weigh in (which means not eating too much and taking a nice big dump before i get on the scales) but u dont wanna be dhydrating urself badly when u dont rleally have to.

Again that depends on the level you're fighting at. If you have 5-10 fights, it's not such a big deal, necessarily. But if you're an international class boxer, you need to be extremely serious about your weight.

If you're fighting a Cuban for example, they'll hit the pads for 3 hours straight the night before to get down, and STILL be at full steam all 4 rounds. Those guys are huge for their weight. If you want to **** with the big boys, you have to look at what they're doing, and try to do the same.

There's a bunch of online calculators but the best way is to get a 7 fold caliper test or the one in hospitals where they dunk you in water.
