sparred for the first time the other day

I'm 6'4, 270lb with a pretty good reach. My favorite tool is the jab, I can hit hard with that shot without sacrificing too much defense so yea.

anyway there weren't any other heavies at the gym it was rainy, so this middleweight tyrone jackson ( im the only white person there,id rather goto a cheap black gym and b a minority rather than pay 60 to goto a white gym) asked me if I wanted 2 work and I said sure. Didn't have a mouthpiece so I used some toilet tissue and a headgear from the gym.

This guy's had 4 fights, and lost 1, (amateur) he claims was a robbery. His homedown is Houston or Dallas. He weighs about 165 but he kills himself to get there and is a natural light heavyweight, but anyway. He's pretty solid defensively, small chest he tucks those elbows in well and moves his head outta the way quickly...he a southpaw and always has his head moving if you come in with the jab and he can take a good punch. Never seen him really hurt, but I have seen him dazed from another heavyweight in here.

So yeah, we step out there and round 1 bell sounds, instinctively I did somethin I never did in a streetfight but saw other fighters do it so I decided to try it, I knew he was coming at me with the jab and etc so I just made these little defensive movements open gloved packin down his jab and firing back my own, I got a pretty quick jab especially for my size but he knows how to move that head, so I decided to feignt a straight right hand upstairs and then step into a power jab to his body. I did it but the jab didn't land like I wanted it to, but he commended me on it and also gave me props for the 7-8 punches I packed down with blocks. After I landed that shot I went back to trying to hit him with the jab but I really didn't want to over commit to a power jab upstairs out of fear of hurting this smaller guy, I can jab like it's a right hand almost and honestly didnt want to hurt him...so I kept going to the body, got him in a clinch and cornered and before he could escape i threw a right hook to his body as hard as I could throw, it hit his elbow and he grimaced. Around this time the 30sec buzzer was about to go off, when it went off he SRL'd my ass and tried to chase me down but I stood him back with a jab to the body. He kept trying to come in so I was like **** it and came in with my own straight right hand, but he hit me flush with a jab to my nose right as I was stepping in with my weight, and I smiled. It was a good shot, it stung but only for a second, adrenaline i guess. t'was the type of shot that if you take too many of it'll make your nose look like Manfredo Jr's..i honestly believe my nose is a little flatter from that but my friends disagree...anyway pretty much the same thing happened in the second round, I got very tired midway through and began focusing on defense only, and he couldnt hit me with anything at all, but my coach was yelling THROW PUNCHES but i just didnt, i was focused on not getting caught with anything to the head more than listening to the coach and gassing out, I guess i'm hard headed but I was tired and acting on instinct, survival mode i guess. That pretty much wrapped it up, after that round I was tired as hell. Was alot of fun though, I really enjoyed it in fact I'm about to head to the gym now and probably will get in some more work with the guy.

Also, about a week before we sparred like this he asked me to get in the ring with some body armor with pads to absorb body shots, told me he wouldnt throw at my head but wanted me to throw at his head. With the weight differenec I knew that was a bad idea so I pulled every headshot I threw at him, I'm a nice guy, ...I landed a good right hook to his body at the end of round one, he grimaced when it landed it hit him right on the oblique, i know it hurt like a *****. I even back up and let him take a breath after I caught him with it cuz I knew it hurt.

Round 2 started and he come in hard beating on my mid section, I kept moving forward protecting my head and chin more than anything else and packing down some of his straight shots. About midway through the round, after I had pressured him and gotten him kinda tired, I caught him on the ropes and we got into a little exchange. I feigned a right hand upstairs and threw a left jab to his body with everything behind it. The shot caught his abdominals un flexed, my glove just sunk into his stomach. Dude fell down on the mat and took his gloves off breathing hard as i kept apologizing. It was just one of those good shots but it felt great that I got it off due to some mid-fight planning, george foreman vs michael moorer style ****. I love throwin the jab to the body after the right hand feignt, it's unexpected and doesnt really sacrifice defense, you can stay safe and do pretty good damage with it.

damn nice, i too would rather go a cheap gym and be a minority than pay more to be with my "kind".

feels good knocking someone down with a body shot, huh?

how much do you pay in your gym?

20 a month. Gym is well equipped except for the ring. Ring is small and damaged, heavily favors shorter armed fighters id have to say, its about a 15 ft ring. Not only is it small but if you try to box like a taller guy would you'll be moving your ankles much more and there's spots in the ring where you can sprain your ankle.. Spots on it where the blue rubbed off in some places it's just pad hanging repaired with duct tape...In this one spot I almost sprained my ankle. Duct tape repair spots all over some of the bad spots, we need a new ring apron. it felt good knockin him down with the body shot but at the same time i knew it was no big accomplishment because I not only outweighed him by 120 lbs but also was wearing body padding

I read excerpts...funny he gave us the whole breakdown "scouting report" from how the guy has to "kill himself to make weight" to his background.

And then follows it up with a "detailed play-by-play" of his first time sparring!?!!?

People need to get a life and stop making **** up.
I don't remember what I did in sparring last week let alone give you a novel about it.
