Could a middleweight win the heavyweight championship of the world ?

Could a middleweight become heavyweight champion of the world again ?

Assuming he hit as hard as Fitz/Julian Jackson, had LaMotta’s chin, Amir Khan/RJJ’s speed, Hagler’s Endurance and SRR’s skill and Archie Moore's cross-arm guard.

Possibly, especially if he fought John Ruiz.

Probably not weighing 160 like Bob Fitz but like if say Prime Hopkins put on 30lbs I'd give him a shot. James Toney did it and he was well past his prime

As a middleweight? Or someone like Toney just gaining lots of weight?

Sure why not. Would I bet on it happening in say the next 5 or 10 years? Nah probably not.

Like a modern day Fitzsimmons, weighing no more than 170.

Floyd Patterson and Chris Byrd started out as MWs in the amateurs. Roy Jones probably could have made the jump at some point straight from MW. They were never very large HWs, especially Patterson. Today, fighters' drain themselves down so much that I can see a MW coming along that walks around at 200+ and drains himself to make 160. We already have WWs who walk around at 180 or so.

Chris Byrd is REALLY small for someone who fought at HW. He currently weighs about 170 lbs.
