    Jaw pain after straight right

I'm waiting for a appointment with the dentist to get a mouth guard fitted correctly but at the moment I'm using a boil and mold one. It keeps on dropping down and last night I got caught with with a straight right with my mouth open a little when trying to push it back up. Since then I've had pain in my jaw just below my ear and if I put my finger in my ear and push down its painful. Theres no swelling, teeth are all lined up correctly just hurt when I open my mouth wide. Any ideas what could be wrong

I think the medical term for what you have is called Khanitis.

Bite down on your mouthpiece when your on the inside or at range to be hit.

Get an impact or gladiator custom mouthguard, will be less expensive and uses the same technology as the dentist ones, except you can do it from home. Fairly quick turnaround.

I've had the same issue in the past, it's the temporomandibular joint. Basically can cause some discomfort in that part of the jaw and in the associated ear for a few days.

Give it a few days and it should go away.

I have experienced it a few times usually when I was sucking wind and got caught. It will linger for a short time.

It's a lot better today compared to yesterday. I've found chewing gum has helped. I'm probably going to be sparring again tonight so I'll have to make sure I'm biting down on the guard and keep my jaw protected

When I first started I'd try to google every little sore or pain that I had (in my hands, in my jaw, in my nose or wherever). Now I don't even think about it. Most lil aches or pains go away in a few days.

Be aware if you catch more shots to the jaw it may make it a bit worse, but shouldn't prolong healing too much.

I'll just work my jab more and keep my jaw protected. I'll have untill next Monday after tonight for it to recover so it should be fine

Yeah you should be fine. Ice that area after sparring tonight maybe for 10-15 mins and then you should have more than enough time to heal up.
