    Power getting worse and worse?

I feel as I have been boxing for about a year (and still am **** at it :/ ) I feel like my power just keep decreasing.

Whenever new people at the gym hold their gloves up for me to hit (it is supposed to be a mitts drill) and I hit them or hit the bags and a new person is holding I keep getting the comments about how hard I hit.

But why don't I feel the same impact I used to? Whenever I hit the bags before I used to feel powerful and from eye gauging the bag swings the same amount, but now I don't even feel like I can crack an egg.

I atleast feel my technique has improved more since I started (except when I get tired)

Remember good and hard shots are loose, as in its like a whip. You should never tense up, if you tense up by overthinking the shot, or trying to correct the trajectory too much during the shot there will be no power.

Maybe your muscles are just tense? Sometimes the more you work out, build muscle you tend to tense up.

You might be muscling your way through the punches. Remember, power is in the timing, not the force. If you are tensing, you are slowing yourself down and weakening your punches. Tense at impact, not in the swing.

Probably did too many slow, strength exercises and lost flexibility or maybe even speed.

thanks for the advice, but I am still a bit confused, As other people are obviously feeling it but I am not. So either I am muscling my way through and tensing up to much,or maybe my arms are used to the impact and that is why they don't feel the same force

Well, how does hitting the bag feel? That is a good measure.

I know if my power is there by hitting the bag, when I'm nice and loose I'm putting big dents in it not giving it a chance to swing...when I'm tired or hit the weights the day before the snap is not there and I'm pushing more.

I can't say I ever got "used to the impact", a hard shot is a hard shot.

Could be pushing your punches hence the heavy hands feedback. Pushing however is not conducive to power, since muscles are tense and rigid throughout the movement. Also usually mitts aren’t used for throwing heavy, that’s what the bag is for. Mitts are for combinations, accuracy and some defense tightening drills.

Or your body could just use the rest. When you go hard 5-6 days out of the week, there’s not much time for the body to recover. Also nutrition and rest are essential for your performance. Boxing by nature is similar to high intensity interval training. Make sure you’re fueling your body right and resting. 2 days off can do wonders

I was throwing jabs at a guy I was sparring with today and he felt that my punch was really heavy, this was after mitts drills that my jabbing arm was exhausted and I felt it was completly pathetic. so how come my sparring partner felt it (he weighted 105kg I weight 98kg) and he felt it was real heavy but why can't I feel like I have something heavy going on?

Also,do you heavy handed people here feel like you are throwing something heavy? Or do you feel like your arms are weak (with your Jab I guess)

If I tell you that you may just have heavy hands you'd tell me that your arms are getting tired from trying to hold your heavy hands up at guard. Why are you so concerned about power when the ams have very little to do with power? Just learn your **** and the power will just show itself in time and with more experience. I'm not going to feed your ego in any way. Just ****in' train your ass off, get in to great physical condition and I'd bet that you start stopping people simply by being fully prepared, conditioning wise.....
