Do you get your nose broken much in Boxing?

I realise no pain no game and that broken noses happen eventually in boxing no matter how protective you are but does it happen that often? I'm 21 and thinking of just having 10 fights and leaving it at that but I don't want to get my nose broken for nothing. What's it like recovering from a broken nose anyway?

I never had my nose broken or bloodied and i have taken a lot of punches, i think depends on the fighter and how often you get hit and how hard you get hit, i see fighters getting his nose broken everytime i step in the gym.

I get a bloody nose rather easy hand haven't had one yet. Keep your hands up and head moving and you probably won't ever take a flush punch which is usually the one that breaks your nose or jaw.

Don't box. If it's "for nothing" then there's clearly no point in pursuing competitive boxing for you.
Also, if pain is a concern for you, that fear is going to hinder your fighting ability.

Boxing is for those who, for better or for worse, aren't mentally inhibited by the pair or actually get stimulated by it.

The only boxing I ever actually did was fighting with a bunch of guys in the backyard with sixteen ounce gloves when we were all in our early twenties. There wasn't much of a chance of getting your nose broken there with those gloves on. No one ever got hurt seriously. A few guys went down though. I just know that when I got hit, I got mad and had to get revenge. I definitely didn't think about what the other guy could do to hurt me. It's just the mentality of going after somebody and when you do get hit, it should spurn you on. I don't know. Maybe I have a Trinidad- get hit first and then retaliate sort of thing going on. Either way, though, I didn't ever want to be a pro. I had an easy time with those guys who didn't know what they were doing but in those gyms, it gets a hell of a lot more real than what I or most people ever do for sure. If you want to be a pro for even one fight, broken noses can happen in any fight. Ten fights is enough to get brain damage or have any long term problems. It really doesn't take much. I would advise learning great defense and using a lot of movement. But it's part of it and can happen any time.

Floyd Patterson said it best, boxing is a game of revenge.

That being said you have to be tough to last in the fight game. If there is an ounce of fear that you can't control then you're done. Fear, like D'amato said, can either keep you warm in the winter or it can hurt and kill you. If you are even thinking about that nose getting broken for any portion of a fight then it could be the end of your night. You will get caught and want to stay down.

To be a fighter you have to have a certain craziness. All fighters are a little ****ed up in the head one way or another. To actually want to go out and beat another man's lights out with a hateful fire in the eyes is nuts to the average person.

I got my nose busted, it's slightly crooked but not noticeable unless I tell you. It didn't hur, didn't even really feel it, just bleed a bit.

My trainer st the time wanted ke to spar the next day, started giving me thst whole , back in my country bs, he was Mexican, ya I went and found a new trainer, never got my nose fixed.

Always had su****ions it was hampering my breathing in the ring, but I smoke and did drugs at the time so I who knows...

I got my nose broke 4 times, by a featherweight, welterweight, middleweight, and a heavy.

The featherweight was really disappointing, we were doing some light sparring because he wanted to, and he broke my nose.

My nose bled like hell when it broke, blood gushing down my throat. I always had to get silver nitrate treatment to stop it. If you break your nose don't drink anything hot for about a week or it will start bleeding bad again and be hard to stop.

I didn't spar for a month after a broken nose.

just once, quite bad, didn't set right. now there is a deviated septum and it makes me snore when sleeping sometimes. oh, and it cracked a front tooth

if you're worried about getting a broken nose, boxing might not be for you. there are much worse things that can happen in boxing, a broken nose is perhaps the least of it

I don't know if mine is broken or not, just like yours it's crooked but people tell me about it and they laugh, it feels bad when they laugh. When I hold it i can bend it to right easily but can't bend it to left. It points right I think lol.
