Nose bleeding

    Nose bleeding

    asking for advice and help from the boxers here

    My son boxes, he has been doing it off and on for a few years

    here recently during sparring his nose will bleed quite a bit, it's not even from hard punches, but small taps or good clean shots.

    When he did golden gloves 2 years ago, I had the Doc rub something in his nose to help with the bleeding, it did help, but now it is back.


    Is there something that can be done to help with this?

    I have heard something like getting your veins burnt

    Thoughts?

    I think this thread may need to go in the training section but Im no mod... So,

    Rub vaseline mixed with vitamin E in his nose and in extreme cases or if he really is going to go for his he can have his nose cauterized. Thats where the docs remove the blood vessels. A lot of MMA guys and boxers do it.

      Sometimes you can have a varicose vein in your nose.

      It will always bleed at some point.

      This varicose vein needs to cauterized by a doctor.

      You need to do it a second time if the vein is fat.

        I don't think it's that. Varicose veins are very noticeable and are in your feet and legs. Never heard of them in your nose. Also they are rare in kids.

          It happened to me, I had it on the nasal septum.


          It's often why you are often bleeding from the very same nostril.

          To be more accurate, it's a just an hypetrophic blood vessel.

            To be honest, your nose kind of gets used to it after awhile...
            I was in a national final a couple of years back and was stopped due to the nose, although I did have it broke in the semi-finals, after the final, the lad I was boxing said he had his nose cauterised... I was thinking about getting this done, as many boxers do get it done to stop the bleeds... But been honest a few fights (and broken noses) later, I went to this day with hardly a dribble of blood....

            You say he has been boxing on and off... Notice how lads who have been boxing since they were young non-stop never get a nose bleed, and also pro boxers rarely get nose bleeds,. In my opinion I think its just getting used to the punchs, your nose builds up sort of an immunity to it...............
            That's just my opinion though, but alot of boxers (if they are serious about it) will get their nose cauterised

              I have the same problem. You don't even have to catch me a lot. One solid shot on the nose will do it, and it'll do it good. Especially if I haven't sparred in a while. But the more and more you get hit in the nose, you form a callus. And I heard if your nose gets broken, then it'll stop the bleeding problem. Not saying to go out and break your kids nose, but that's what happened to someone I know.
