Hello,
I've recently purchased a heavy bag & stand. On days when my trainer isn't available, I do a bag work out instead (shadowbox, heavy bag, speed bag). I'm new to the heavy bag (at least, new to working it "right", not pushing it round) and still sort of getting used to it. I have the Cleto Reyes heavy bag which is about 70lbs. I know some people would recommend heavier bags b/c I'm over 200 lbs, but my coach told me 70-80# was what he always recommends.
Anyways I am trying not to do bag workouts on consecutive days because my arms get sore. Especially on the left hook, it feels like the outside of my tricep is a little sore when I through the hook correctly (high, straight elbow/wrist, palm to the ground). But I'm guessing maybe my body is just adjusting to this training? It isn't a serious pain or anything, I am just hoping not to aggravate it further (I can deal with minor aches and pains, but I'm trying not to get injured)
My other question is if anyone here trains with a round heavy bag (either exclusively or in conjunction with a normal heavy bag). For instance Cleto Reyes has one (the product name is just "round bag"),

It isn't an uppercut bag , it's just a big round bag! The reason I ask is because my coach is big on using all six punches (jab, right, left hook, right hook, left and right uppercuts). I actually think the uppercut feels the most natural to me and I love to use it in sparring (I mix it up -- long range 'lead uppercut jab' , or medium range 'lead shovel hook'/uppercut to the body )
... I would like to practice these on the heavy bag too but it seems impossible to, with the normal heavy bag. I would only work on bag on any given day b/c it's sort of a two person job to change it off my heavy bag stand. And yes, I am a "gear whore". Just wondered if a bag like this would really be worthwhile.
