    Short heavy bag video

I've been off for three years because of nerve damage. And even though I might never fight again, I wanna be around boxing. 45 pounds overweight. I used to fight at 132 in the amateurs; I weigh about 176-179 here. I'm going to get my weight down and see where it takes me. If you guys know anything about nerve damage, please pm me. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate any advice.

It was really a 4 round video, but I get these twitches that im real self concious of and i only put a part of the video where I wasn't doing it. Only people with this link will be able to watch. Will take down in about a week.

I normally don't comment on videos like this but I think it's a lazy way to hit the bag.

Hitting any bag or equipment in the gym, should be done correctly so you eliminate bad habits.

You are hitting it like Mayweather fights. Keep your hands up, keep your head down and move according to where the bag takes you.

Your head is straight up in the air, your punches are coming from the middle of your chest and even though you have decent speed, your re-enforcing bad habits.

Hit the bag right, work the mitts properly and spar properly and you will fight the same way.

Listen, I didn't want to say anything cause I don't want to come off mean, but this is terrible. Just terrible. I don't see much at all that he did right...including his choice of headgear.

Likening ANYTHING he did in this video to Mayweather is pugilistic blasphemy.

            Turrible...

                Really appreciate every advice

Yes, my whole back is stiff from the nerve damage, and I've lost a lot of upper body/head movements. There's a time to keep your hands up and times not to, but at my physical state I definitely can't get away with keeping my hands down anymore. I would say its nothing like the way Mayweather hits the heavy bag. I'm just trying to always think; the way I hit the bag is the way I fight. My friend recorded my first fight on Facebook, but I don't have any sparring videos. I'm 6-5 as a amateur and not to sound like a **** but I feel as though I was robbed all my losses. Even though its a Philly gym, its not a "Philly shell" style; its a "overcoat" style(Bennie Briscoe, Joe Frazier) The "head gear" is just a winter hat. I'm just trying to sweat off some weight lol. I got a lot of weight to lose and once I do, I'll post some more videos. I miss fighting like crazy and I really hope I can be healthy enough to take hits in the near future. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm def not offended at all; it just makes me want to get better.

Anyway. I agree with your point on not reinforcing bad habits. But it's just bag work -- It's not sparring, mitt work, or anything else, it's just hitting the bag.

There are guys that look great technically just training, but then get the worse end in sparring, but then there are others who don't look nearly as gifted on the bags/mitts/etc. but really get in when they're sparring.

That's the great part about boxing, sometimes flaws or physical attributes can end up being a fighter's greatest advantage.

I think you're doing good, especially considering the state you said you're in now. Your style reminded me a bit of Paulie's except you actually put combos together.

Glad you can recognize that you're not hitting the bag like Mayweather at all, don't know how anyone could get that from your video. Mayweather is continuously punching, mixing up light and heavy shots -- rhythmic in a way. You were placing your combos and putting punches together. Both are great ways to train on the bag.
