Never timed any of my fighters as to distances. It wasn't relative to the training program. However my uncle who trained me as a teenager timed mile workouts in 3x. I ran on an old cinder 1/4 mile outside my high school football field. My best was an average of 5:55 x3 after about one summer maybe working it 10 times!! I hated every step and it served no purpose for boxing!
Uncle was a good man so it got done! I guess that was pretty good actually the high schoolers back then around my area were running 4:30s in high school competition. I think Jim Ryan ran around 4:05 in college around 1966 or so, that was fast back then. Ray.

Nah, I can a mile in 5 mins consistently enough. I like to start my runs at a hard pace, get to the half-way point in a good time. If you're on track for a good overall time it gives you the incentive to push through the pain on the way home. I wouldn't put 3 x 5min miles together, 17 mins is as fast as I've ever done the 5K.

Don't have any history of track running or anything so I reckon I'll never have the appetite to go any faster than that. Normally just do HIIT these days anyway. Prefer it to the slog of flat out 5/10Ks.

My fastest has been 5:40 but I never really ran much. I do think I would have done good had I done cross country in high school.

        If I test myself, let's say tonight, I guess I'd do something like 6:20 - 6:00.

          A 17 min 5K is damn good. I did a 17:43 5K training run yesterday.......shaving off those 43 seconds would be tough!

I think you'd do very well at track if you ever found your love for running......

I've never had good stamina for running but ONE time in middle school, I finished at 7:15 and I felt like I could run another mile right after. I don't know what I did different that day because my usual time back then was around 8:30. I don't know my time now as a 26yr old but I will check tonight when I go to the gym.
