How many % in sparring ?

    Hello !

I'm relatively new into boxing (3-4 months and have sparred like 6-8 times).
How much % in power of your hits/shoots do you give your opponent ?
I dont know if it's wrong of me to feel sorry for my opponent if a get a good hit/clean shoot at nose(or something similar that hurts) or if i should just put my feeling to side and give him all i got ?

Depends on what your coach want you to be doing but I'd say at least give it 75%

      always give it 110%!

obviously depends on the goal of the sparring- if it is a simulated fight then go pretty much full on, if you are working on a particular tactic then speed and accuracy should take over from outright power or one of you isn't going to learn very much.

Depends on your coaches and ofcourse your sparring partner. You should not go 100% on a less experienced guy, that's just wrong. Like in our gym if I spar a guy on the same level of experience then we can go hard but when it's not equal then the coaches tell us what to do.

Personally I like hard sparring because it prepares you more for an actual fight.

I used to feel sorry/hold back when I first started.

You will quickly learn the other guy doesn't give a toss.

Go 100% - the coach will stop it if it gets too much.

Don't listen to the noobs advising you to go 100% mate. I have been in well over 30 different gyms and only on extremely rare occassions have I seen coaches encouraging FULL power sparring - but this has always been with experienced lads who are equally matched and preparing for a bout. Never with beginners.

You are obviously new to boxing and it is therefore likely that most of your sparring partners are new too. Keep the power down and focus on technique and trying new things out - the aim of sparring is to learn, not knock each other unconcious.

100 percent effort and concentration. 70% power and aggressiveness.

For example if someone is hurt in the corner don't go out and try to finish them use your boxing skill to land clean punches rather than trying to wail on him.
