Should you box when you are sick?

Hey guys, starting from yesterday I had a fever and now I got a bit better just that my throat hurts.

I wanted to ask everyone out there, should I be boxing even though I am sick? Also for a better knowledge I want to ask, whether if you get sick or injured if you have a fight coming up, should you rest until you get better or continue boxing? Because regardless if I'm sick I used to go to the gym and do my workout, but I was wondering if this is actually a good thing to do.

Thanks for any of your opinions

Live to fight another day, rest...

You need your lungs and all your body in full working condition, when you are sick your body is trying to recover from the sickness and putting it through training does NOT help. If you are sick you can get another person sick too so look out for the other people in the gym or wherever you train.

You're at your most contagious as your symptoms are dying down; the likelyhood of passing your virus on to your sparring partner is very high at this point, so don't do it.

Injuries you can sometimes train around but this is a lot more difficult in boxing than when you're in the gym. If you're ill take the advice of the previous comments and rest. Spend the time you'd be training watching different styles of fighters or instructional videos and eyeing techniques.

If you don't already, start taking decent quality vitamins. You're bodies gonna need them. Vit C is good for supporting a healthy immune system and Echinacea is a good preventative. I've taken the later for about a year and I've not been ill once.

Whan you are sick your body needs all the imune system and resourses to recover. Training is going to take from those resourses which is not going to speed the recovery. Secondly you have no business spreading your bug to ther people at the gym.

There is no shame in taking time off to recover from an illness. One week or so will not cause you to lose significant muscle or deteriorate your conditioning. Your illness is a result of a weakened immune system which is a natural consequence of training hard but like the other posters here, take some time off.

Good, just, be careful with training too hard the first training after your illness. You probably feel fitter than ever because you took some rest, but really the disease has just left your body. So when you start training, listen to your body and don't overdo it. You can easily get sick again because you train too hard when you just recovered from an illness. Listen to your body!
