    Starting good habits

So I just got my dad's old heavy bag (80lbs) out of storage. The bag is older than me, but it is still in fine condition. Today we hung it up and I am going to start hitting it. I don't know yet if this will lead me into the sport of boxing, but in case it does, I want to start good habits.

So if you could tell me the 3 best things to think about while starting, I would really appreciate it

    Thanks,
    Mike

    While hitting the bag:

    1-Keep your hands up.
2-Treat the bag like it is a real opponent.(IE: Don't just stand there and flail at it, hit and move.)
3-Hit the bastard like you mean it, it will give you a much better work out than just pawing and pitty patting at it.

If you ever become a pro boxer just remember that whenever you don't fight anyone, for any reason, for business reasons or any other legitimate reason-- at least 1 person on a message board will accuse you of ducking. Probably over and over.
