    Situation with upcoming tournament

    So, I have a problem.

A tournament I boxed in last year (I got a robbery win in the finals and gave the medal to the other guy after the show) has been moved up one month to two weeks from now. Took me completely off guard. Unfortunately, I'm sitting at about 225 right now, weight wise. My fighting weight is about 202-203, no more than 205. So if I wanted to compete in it this year, I'll have to drop at least 20 pounds in 2 weeks. The most I've ever lost in a week is 8 pounds, and I felt like I was going to pass out every day in training.

Given that I have almost no chance of winning this year (last year I won one match by a lucky punch and got an unfair decision in the second match), should I bother with it?

If so, is it reasonable to try to lost 20 pounds of muscle and fat in two weeks?

    I appreciate any help.

Short of surgery, it is physically impossible to lose 20 lbs. of fat and/or muscle in 2 weeks.

But losing 4 lbs. of fat/muscle + 16 lbs. of water weight in 2 weeks is entirely feasible.

Put on plastic, run on a treadmill, bike, sit in a sauna suit. Easy.

Of course I'm NOT advising you do that in case you die-- but I personally could do it no problem.

If your still going to be a HW then your not going to fight any better draining yourself just to make a target weight that does not effect what division your in. You would probably be better just fighting at the weight you would naturally come in at for the fight if you really want to do it.

        Dont be so negative.

Also, Why is it so many fighters Put on so much weight on and off? In general. I mean, like. famous ones, Like hatton? What does everybody do. dont go to the gym for two months and drink beer all day?

In the case of Hatton, yes exactly. His binge boozing and junk food eating between fights is pretty well documented. Gains like 40lbs drives his trainers crazy. Says he needs to do it so he can relax.
