Well gatorade is not the best thing, the only good thing in it are electrolites, the rest is mostly sugar.

      Four hour workout? Good grief.

Gatorade/Powerade etc. is great during or immediately after training. Your body needs simple sugars during these times.

Lactose isn't a great source of energy if you need it quickly and efficiently.

Gatorade's not bad, especially if you're training for more then 2-3 hours, really you do need some sugar in you. Sometimes I'll bring some to the gym to sip on, but like one bottle will last me like a week. There is a lot of sugar in there, and right after my workout I down a big glass of fruit juice.

That's not the first time I've heard or read someone recommending chocolate milk. I can manage just having water after a 5-mile run, but if I hit the gym hard afterwards then I'll ocassionaly sip on some Gatorade Rain. I don't like regular Gatorade. It tastes like it's too concentrated. The Rain series is like a lite or watered-down version, which I like.

Yes the same exact thing happened to me except it was during my 4 hour 1 minute workout.

                  its just good.

chocolate as a quick source of energy, lactose as a secondary with protien too. plus because of the chocolate they usually use skim milk to keep it thiner.

Can be good after a hard session. I don't like drinking it during, makes me cramp up.
