where do you aim a jab?

    Hi,
ive been boxing for like 1.5yrs on and off,
im 5.5", was around 54kg now round about 64kg
    and a natural southpaw

I have a great difficulty landing a jab to the head, i can land it to the body with ease, aswell as a 1-2 to the body. and loads of lead straight lefts to the head also, but i dont wanna be a one-trick pony. is there anything i can work on to improve my success rate with the jab upstairs?

edit: also my arm length is 23"

I always aim for the forehead or chin. More often than not, it lands directly on the nose taking in head movement from your opponent. Try it, it works well for me. I'm 6'6" and its easy for me

It's cool man. The forehead works well because almost Nobody covers up that high and its a nice shiny, large object to aim for.

Southpaw as well, I aim for the left temple if I throw a jab/hook while circling to my right and aim at the chin when circling to my left

Most wise trainers will tell you not to directly aim for the sweet spots such as the chin or nose. It's better to aim for the chest and forhead. Aiming for the forhead is the most efficient because your shooting upward, leaving your shoulder to cover your left side of your face (orthodox) from a counter right. It also will snap your opponents head back well which will work in your favor.

Aim it toward the sternum, stomach, and head.

Aim it toward the sternum, stomach, and head. I think your best weapon as a southpaw, provided you are fighting orthodox fighters, is your straight left. I am also southpaw and I like using my left. One problem I encountered with this was getting hit with uppercuts: the opponent would pull back, duck under, and then use his right uppercut.

Aim at the throat. If your opponant dips, you'll hit his face. if he pulls straight back you'll hit his chin. But be sure to step in sliding your lead leg when jabbing. Work it over and over in your gym. Also learn to jab, step to the side and double jab to the head or body!!!! The JAB is the key to victory!
