I don't box and just have a wee set up in my garage (punchbag and free weights). I can't run as I broke my tib and fib 8 years ago and the impact gives me too much pain. I only get to workoue in my garage 4 times a week due to various constraints in my life but I make sure I am utterly exhausted when I finish my session. I'm only really doing it to keep in shape and keep healthy for my young son. In terms of rest, I remember reading somewhere that Nutrition is most important, then rest (8hrs sleep - which sadly I can't manage), and training last.

is training everyday really good?

I used to train 6 days a week and was mega fit but I had an easy job at the time, my training was 2 hrs a day mon-fri nights and an easy one sun morning.
Mind you I usually skipped 1 session a week so effectively only trained 10hrs a week, sparring, conditioning, skills everything.

i just train my boxing casually the past year with more focus on weights but from 13-22 i was a very good amateur. once i felt i really hit my groove after a year or so and it got more serious, i was training 6 days a week twice a day. i would get two weeks like that in a month and the other two weeks were 5 days on 2 days off. strength and conditioning in the early morning boxing gym for 2 hours in the afternoon. every 4-5 months i would take 3-4 days off straight. could never stick to the whole off week concept haha. but ya just go by how your body feels. i found that weightlifting adds a huge variable into what i thought i knew about rest/overtraining.

Hope this helps
I started training hard last June for my first bout on November. I ran 4-6 times a week, shadow boxing after then I do core exercises. I oonly skip running days whenever I train at the gym or spar. I did this consistently until I injured my left shoulder in a sparring. I stopped boxing(even shadow boxing) BUT I continued alternating long distance runs and interval sprints. Two weeks ago, I started incorporating strength exercises for my injury. I did upper body light workouts every after skipping/running. But yesterday, after skipping ropes, I felt pain on top of both feet. I researched about it and I'm guessing it's due to stress fractures. BE CAREFUL if you're planning to train everyday because boxing is one of the most physically demanding sports.
Rest is a must. I only learned this after having injuries. You might think that you're improving but in reality, you're body's wearing out. I used to think I had to break limits everyday and all those inspirational quotes but **** it, now I'm stuck to strengthening my injured shoulder and not running/skipping(BASICALLY NO CARDIO TRAINING) for 4-6 more weeks. I'll be left with approximately just one month to prepare for my fight. All this 'cause I thought everyday training was making me better. Eventually, I could have managed to train everyday, if I only did it gradually. Taking small steps is the key.
