Dealing with hard shots to the head and body

Ok.... this is definitely not a question about heart but about dealing with those hard shots that sometimes shake you and leave you with headaches and pains...

how do you deal with those?

obviously, improving defense is one but any other ways u guys come up to deal with heavy shots?

Grit your teeth and deal with it.

I took one body shot to the liver and I dont take them anymore. Picked up the philly shell and no more shots to the body. Hard head shots, I start using my footwork. Back off and stay off until I recover.

Ok, people might criticise this post and poke holes in it, i dont really know about dealing with the pain aspect apart from improving your slipping and defense to try and avoid taking the big shots.
But my trainer once told us to get off the heavy bags for a minute and just stand in the middle of the gym; a bit confused, we did so, awaiting what he said next. He then proceeded to tell us to keep your lead hand up at your chin like your guard, and then point your back hand directly down to the floor, and then look down your arm towards the floor. Then spin around in a circle for 15 seconds, and when he said "stop" we had to get in stance and guard and shadow box. The more i did it, the better i seemed to shadow box whilst dizzy.
I suppose this could help a little with the shots that daze you a bit, but i dont know as i'm not a proffessional trainer or an expert.
Just a suggestion, from something that we tried at our gym.

strenghten the muscle in the neck: most of the pain come from the bounce of your head. If your neck is strong enough it will absorb part of the hit, and will limit the rapid movement of the head and thus part of the pain.

when taking a body shot your immediate reaction is to hold you breathe. If you can control you breathing afterwards slow and deep youll be in a much better position than of you hold your breathe.

although this does sound slighly silly i think it should work and sounds a good plann.

I've heard that technique before. It's a good idea to help you deal with being rocked. You know what it feels like then and you also learn what you can/can't do when you feel like that and how long it takes you to recover.

Part of the "pain" of taking a good head shot is the quick turning of your head that shakes your poor lil noodle around in your head. You can lessen that effect by strengthening your neck. Do some research or just use common sense, really its not that complicated.

As for body shots, you should just work your abs hard 3 times a week with various calisthenics, I prefer minute drills (this exercise 30 seconds, that exercise 30 seconds and so on for a round, repeat for 3-5 rounds) and low rep, high weight **** for the abs like russian twists, side bends, incline sit ups (weighted) and so forth. If you build up your obliques in particular then you'll deal with body shots quite well.

You can also do sit ups or some other exercise while somebody hits you in the stomach with a medicine ball. Or hang off the pull up bar and have somebody hit you in the stomach for a few rounds, not all out of course because while your hanging its pretty brutal, your essentially a heavybag lol.

never really had much of a problem with head shots, but when you're tired and not ready a good shot in the solarplex is ****ing disabling, you just gotta try and wait it out.
