Balancing boxing and other responsibilities in life.

I have had a great deal of trouble finding the time to train for boxing and do all the other important things in my life. I'm assuming many of you have the same problems, but I've found something that is really helping me.

I always train with my ipod, even during sparring, and usually listen to the Dixie Chicks or something pretty hard. But I found this add on to the ipod on ebay called the BSF Magic II. It is like wireless internet and you can program it to read out the words of specific websites through your ipod.

So, of course I program in Stormin' and Shawn's posts so I can listen to them in the middle of a kick ass workout. So instead of going home to catch up on their advice, I train for an hour longer each day and feel like I am successfully multitasking. I even think my technique is getting better and I've started eating oranges in between each rounds, just cause I have their little voices in my ears.

I suggest it to any of you. This thing is awesome!

If I were your coach and you listened to your Ipod during sparring, I wouldn't let you spar anymore.

Sukhenkoy, my trainer is the one who started it. He bought us all headgear with speakers inserted in the side. They are like the blue tooth kits you can get for your motorbike helmet. We've only got the basic model at the moment but I saw a new one on Ringside that has surround sound, which will be awesome, and it connects with your mobile too so you can also talk on the phone while sparring. It has definitely changed the way we train.

You should get your trainer a mic so that he can bark out combos into your ear when you're sparring. Hell, have him do it during a fight too

I don't know if you're joking or not, but I honestly can't take something like this serious. Training with an ipod when you're doing conditioning at home - something as boring as situps - I can understand. But sparring? Seems a bit excessive to me.

          Something tells me you're joking.

what? Sparring with an ipod? Thats the ******est thing i ever heard sorry. That really caught me off guard. WHAT? Bloo Tooth Head Gear? Where do you train? Space?

As far as balancing boxing wiht other things. I work 35-40 hours a week, and go to college full time. Ive still been managing to box 4 nights a week. And on days i dont go to the gym i go for long runs. Its all about figuring everything out.

I dont go to school on weekends. So i work about 20 hours just on Saturday and Sunday combined. I got no school on Wednesday so i work a lot on Wednesday. And I work some week days after school like when i get out of class around 11 i go to work and work an 11 or 12 to 6 shift or something and go to boxing a 7. Its works pretty good. And i still get to go out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

im a civil engineer student and i work 25-30 hrs a week, in school 5 days out of the week. wake up 6:30 AM to get ready for a half our drive to school then go to school until about 2 PM, Fridays until 4 PM, then work. work all weekend, retail hours are gay. i can make it to the gym every day but my engineering classes really take up my time out of school so i have to limit my time at the gym. i barely make enough to pay for my car, insurance, and gym membership.... don't have a phone and sure as hell hvn't had a girlfriend since this engineering biz started(1 & 1/2 year), pretty sad but as long as i can make time for boxing and meeting my priorities, i can give a **** less about anything else.

if u want to really make time for things, just use any FREE time to complete anything you need to take care of. for example i get like 30 mins break in between classes, instead of trying walk around looking for my friends, i sit my ass right down at a bench, finish any work that was assigned just 5 mins ago when i left class. getting things done faster, and not procrastinating makes more time.

i also produce music and i dont want to let any talent that i'm refining in the music department go to waste, so i make time for some music production too.

seriously, i am shocked. please re-read my post. i can't believe you guys are taking me seriously. it is kinda sad, even sadder then my need to post bull**** like that in the first place.

But okay, if we are going to make this a serious post, I personally don't have any trouble at all making time for boxing because that's pretty much all I do, lol.
