    diet for beginners

To get into "boxing shape" what would be the diet that'll get a beginner, who started going to a boxing gym recently, there? I'm 6'1" and between 185lbs and 190lbs (it kinda fluctuates, but I'm closer to 185 most of the time).

I guess I do want to box eventually. What diet'll get me there quickest? I guess I'll have to watch what I eat to lose fat, but still need to get enough fuel for my body. Would you suggest limiting carbs, cutting them out almost completely or completely, and upping protein? What would be best?

first i would say get good at boxing. Just eat healthy and you will lose weight. If you want to start fighting it takes a while for you the get there.

I do eat healthy as in I never eat fast food or pizza or junk. When I say carbs I mean fruit and whole grains. I've found it that when I run, I need to consume more of those in order to improve my endurance, but don't lose a lot of weight. I would either eat less of those and more protein, or just try to eat "balanced." I'll try to limit those a bit and keep eating healthy then.

yeah keep eating healthy. Theres 2 things Ive found works for me.

#1 work harder. If you normally throw 200 punches in a round start throwing 300. When you run, run faster etc etc. Youll also get into better shape that way. For the punches you dont need to count, set up your cell phone and use the camera feature to record, count when your done. The higher output burns more calories total and from fat and gets you in better shape AND you burn more calories post workout, alot can be said for workin hard.

#2 If you hold pretty steady at your weight and eat good take 1 meal and cut 30% to 50% from it. I used to routinely eat 2 bowls of cereal for breakfast and started eating just 1 (also added a multivitamin) and I lost 7 pounds in 1 month just doing that. The weight you lose slowly stays off the best. Since only 1 meal is smaller your not hungry all day.

Just a couple of things you could try.

Boxing shape is not necessarily related to diet. Have you ever seen a hungry Mexican fight? Their diets aren't so great south of the Rio Grande, so obviously food isn't the biggest issue. The desire to fight and the will to win is what gets a man into boxing shape. It is what makes him train hard, it is why he gets off the canvass and survives a big hit. The secret to success in boxing is in the heart, not in the stomach.

Discipline yourself with a natural, healthy diet and a clean lifestyle. If you train like a Mexican in the gym, you will fight like a Mexican in the ring!
