Hello everyone,
Description of problem:
When I wear handwraps on my left hand and close my hand into a fist, The tendon hood that covers my middle knuckle gets pushed to the side by all the material. You can see which tendon I'm talking about if you open up your hand and move that little fleshy rope right over the knuckle. I have always been able to move that tendon by making a fist since I was a kid. After 4 months of rigorous practice on the heavy bags and mitts, the padding in my glove deteriorated to practically nothing. Since my tendon hood wasn't covering the knuckle as I punched, I guess only my knuckle joint was taking in all the trauma and damage. I kept using it and started experiencing some pain in that knuckle. I thought it was nothing, and I thought if I kept using it it would get stronger. I guess I was wrong, because the pain never went away and it got worse. Now I've been using something called zheng gu shui on it to try to make it heal faster, and I just ordered some dit da jow as well.
Diagnosis:
I went to the doctor and got an x-ray, there weren't any noticeable fractures. The doctor told me to not hit anything for a month. I've read from other forums and threads here that it could be that I just punched at an awkward angle, but if that's the case it should have healed by now. I've also heard that it could be a bone bruise which takes a considerable amount of time to heal (microfracture? not sure).
Anyhoo, thanks for reading, and if you or anyone you know has had this problem, and recovered from it, please PLEASE let me know. I have a fight scheduled in May 2nd, and it would seriously make me happy for the rest of my life if I knew how to fix this.
