    breathing breathing breathing

so yeah. iono i don't really have the proper breathing technique down but i have the main idea. exhale from mouth when throwing a punch and breathe in through the nose.

but the thing with exhaling sharply through the mouth is i still get gassed out. it doesn't seem like it really helps.

so i asked a fellow boxer in my gym who has a lot of experience what i'm doing wrong and he said something that nobody mentioned in other threads.

he said you have to exhale sharply and expend all your air. all of it. becuase for me when i exhale sharply i don't expend all my air. i just exhale some air sharply with the ch sound. but yeah. he said to exhale and expend all your air to throw 1 punch. as for combos. divide your air supply evenly so by the time your combo ends, then you will have expended all your air.

so what you guys think? i know other poeple in threads mentioned exhaling air when throwing a punch but no one really said to expend all the air.

i foudn this pretty interesting. because i just thoguht the way i was doing it was okay or something.

i no alot about meditation, and when breathing you should inhale with the word sooo, and exhale with the word "hom". its the natural mantra of the body
sounds weird, but that is the natural sound your breath makes, also if you ever read into the triple warmers, each part of the body is relieved by a sound, the head by hahh(like a laugh sound, go figure) the throat by "hall"(thats why the mints are called halls, it clears your throat) and the lower body is soo i want to say. let me no if this makes sense

ever wonder why the buddist monks go ommmmmmmm?
thats the sound of your exale, basically. but you only hear the exale. all togerther, their saying "so ommmmmmm".
thats why cows are sacred in India. they say the mantra backwards moo instead of oom. each part has its own meaning. feel the O part in the back of your throat, like the back of your head. then once ur at the m, ull feel it on your lips, like it travels through your whole body.

        exactly
when you say OMMM, ur gonna feel it come up from your lungs, then travel up your nose and out, then almost resting at your lips, reverberating, almost powering your kinetic energy
the mantra(a phrase uttered in meditaiton) Ommm is sacred, because its the

path of the breath, the only mantra to do so. it starts in the lungs, then out the nose, just like oxygen i mean u can feel it, practice the ohhh part(no ****), u feel it your lungs. then the mmm part you feel pressure on your lips

yup in karate they make you yell, or kiah(hi ya) to expell air out of lungs
the duel purpose is that it helps throw the punch with more intent, and if u get hit while striking, you cant get the wind knocked out of you, literally.

Breathing trough the nose and out with the mouth has proven to be much more effective for me. Only thing is that when I do this, I get the feeling to yawn real deep, or I just want to take a very deep breath you know. To fill up my lungs again.

I dont see how you are having problems breathing..

they make a device called the "aqua lung" google it.. to help strengthen your breathing muscles.. helps you take deeper breathes etc..

I bought one when i was 260lbs.. to help get me in shape..

                  works good..

I used to get winded before finsihing a quarter mile.. now I sprint one and and feel fine lmfao (189lbS)

you yawn because your brain is not getting enough oxygen. that is why you yawn when you are tired, because there isnt alot of blood being pumped to the brain, and therefore the brain signals the body to yawn to add more oxygen.

i have been away from these forums for quite away, i haven't stopped training ofcourse.

its good to be back with you boys!
