Shoulders when you punch. . .

I'm still a newb but I've been training hard and sparring and really starting to snap the mitts etc.

Yet when I watch the pros warm up and shadowbox and stuff their shoulder movement when they punch looks so much more active than mine. The shoulders seem so loose and to bounce around a lot. Is that technique that you should consiously work on or does that just come with thousands and thousands of punches?

    Thanks,

    Mike

You got to work on your technique.

Just start shadowboxing and execute every punch slowly(in front of the mirror) to see that all of your body mechanics work properly. e.g the transfer of energy from feet to lower back to shoulders is correct.

And you got to work it every day and for hours.

You can get it either way really, you can just keep hitting the bag as hard as you can and with as good tech. as possible and it will come naturally, but the fastest way is to have a trainer teach it to you.

well if ur punching the right way, ur shoulders be loose and involved in the punch either way. u have to make sure ur not tight and tense and ur shoulders are limber so that u can get proper snap in ur punch, otherwise u could hyperextend ur shoulder, or ur elbow. i like the shadowbox in front of a mirror idea that will help u see what u can do to improve. also imagine ur throwin a football or baseball, u def use ur shoulder for that, dont u? same for a punch.
