Boxed a Tall Guy lastnight (video)

Had a fight lastnight, wasn't as technical as I would have like to be, I have no excuses though (had a bad rib but it didn't bother me at all)...I was just basically thrown off by his height he was 6' 4" 164 and I am 5'8" 155.

I should have concentrated on his body alot more than his head, and worked my way in. In any even here they are... giving up 8" in height is not fun LOL.

I mean so did ya WIN?

You would have done a whole lot better if you would have jabbed more. It would have been loads easier for you because he wasn't using his Jab at all to me.

After you fed him a right hand he didnt want anymore to eat. So he wasn't gonna charge you like he did in the beggining ya should have taken advantage of that. Ya must have cracked him good with that right hand that I saw.

Overall I liked it... thanx for postin.

cool cool i like that hard ass overhand right you threw in the second round when it was like 30 seconds into the round. what state do you live in? ive never seen a amateur boxing video like this before where the ref looked like a random dude from a fitness gym with a tank top on and fighters with normal headgear and cups ontop of thier shorts

The first round was even...but its bigger than 100 megs so it wont let me upload maybe ill get to it later. It was a Smoker thats why the ref, crowd, ect ect. I think I'll have my first AM fight in Oct. I am in Northern California.

As far as jabbing, yup your right...and I felt I needed to go more to the body more..but we live and learn. My trainer said I should get in there with him so I am ready for whatever, if I really want to do the golden gloves next spring, hopefully 152lbs wont have too many 6'4" dudes jajaja.

Thanks fellas, I guess I did better than I thought I did, it was a bit fustrating not doing the things ya wann do...but thats why we hit the gym 247

And the tall guy was obviously a novice.

You telegraphed your shots by throwing your hands up before throwing. If the guy was more experienced he would of countered that all day. You should have went to his body and threw the straight right cause he was constantly open for it. I saw in the beginning of the 2nd,you throwing it and turning his neck.So obviously you have power. To further increase this power you should bend your knees more. Your front leg was straight up,you dont have enough balance or foot planting shots like that.

And of course jab your way in instead of depending just on explosiveness. It was nice explosiveness, but throw the jab first then explode. Ive always heard and it seems true. That who ever establishes there jab first will control the tempo of the fight. And try to keep composure and not throw so many wild shots.

I was trying to get him to flinch or put his hands up so I could land a clean shot to the body. I should have followed the right hands to the body with a left hook upstairs (like on the bag) but just didn't do it.

I get all your saying versy, its just a matter of executing in there..I could have used your inside hooks to the body, that was the plan but yea just kinda got wild when I was getting fustrated.

Thanks for the feed back..thats why i posted it
