    Gloves question

I previously trained at an MMA gym where i used 16oz Grants for everything, bags, pads, sparring ect....

I will be starting next week training at Mendez Boxing Club in NYC.

I have a new pair of 16oz cletos. Should I also pick up a pair of 12oz bag gloves?

i was told that i shouldnt use the gloves i use for sparring for anything except sparring.

I appreciate any help, thank you very much

i use the same gloves for everything. the regular 16 ounce everlast gloves...
bagwork, sparring, double end bag, shadowboxing. imo u dont need different gloves for every little thing. 16 ounces is 16 ounces.

thank you. thats how i had trained previously. but 2 people had told me to not use the 16oz. for anything but sparring, hence the question.

I'd go along with speedkillz and use them for everything. The only reason i'd change gloves for bag work to sparing is that if i had a real expensive pair of gloves say cletos or winnings, then i would only use them for sparing and not for bag work as there to nice to **** up on the bags.
i'd say if moneys no object use them for both but if you need to preserve your ebst gloves like i do then only use the expensive ones for sparing.

The reason why people say to have a seperate pair of gloves for sparring is that after awhile from doing like the heavy bag and such with your 16's they tend to get all worn out and when you spar your 16's dont feel lik e16's anymore
