    Critique my diet.

Ok, I've been kind of watching my diet and trying to lose some weight the last month or two, but nothing really serious. Well today I got a scale, weighed in at 207(Not too bad, up about 15 LBs from my lightest, but that was during wrestling season while cutting weight)

So starting today I'm getting very serious about my weight, I have a lot to lose, and I think I can easily get to 165. My trainer wants me to shoot for 178 but I feel that 165 is very very possible.

This is what I've been eating, and what I plan to eat while cutting weight.

    Breakfast:
Usually not much...If I'm up in time for breakfast it's because I have to work early, which means I'm up in time to get ready for work, no time to eat. If I DO eat breakfast, it might be a Carnation Instant Breakfast, a Nutrigrain bar, or 2 rice cakes with peanut butter.

    Lunch:
I've been eating a lot of tuna salad(not as good for me as straight tuna, but it tastes better and I keep the unhealthy condiments to a minimum), turkey sandwiches, and some kind of snack.

Dinner:Varies a lot. I eat out pretty often(it's that damn girlfriend of mine, she always makes me...take that however you want to ) When I eat out I try to stick with Subway or Chipotle. Nothing too extreme at Subway, turkey sub on wheat bread, light mayo, some other stuff on there). Chipotle isn't great I know, but it's better than Wendy's or something. Burrito bol at Chipotle, chicken with light cheese/sour cream, pretty much everything else. Something I just found last week or so is these . Basically just rice and chicken, I figure they can't be too bad for me. My mom's got a little George Foreman grill laying around, I'm going to start grilling some chicken breasts on there.

Snacks:Lots of different stuff. A handful of peanuts, beef jerky, baked chips, rice cakes, Nature Valley granola bars, etc. I try to stick to things that taste good and are healthy, or at least not too bad for me.

Drinks:Almost always water. I drink a decent amount of Propel and Powerade Option. The occasional Gatorade(mostly when it's on sale). Arizona Green Tea every once in a while. Pop was extremely, extremely rare for me, and I'm cutting it out completely starting today(I've actually had a lot in the past 2 weeks, probably like 5 cans in the last 2 weeks. Couldn't resist the Dr. Pepper at my graduation party ).

My worst habit:Smoking. I started smoking weed a little after spring break this year. I don't do it much, and I am quitting(or at least slowing down substantially). My big problem is I smoke and eat like a ****ing monster. This plus the fact that the smoking probably doesn't help my training is a big no-no.

So that's it I guess. As of today I'm 207.0. I'd like to be at or around 165 by the end of the year, which is definitely possible for me(I lost 60 LBs in 6 months last year, so 40 in 6 months is certainly doable.)

How does my diet look? I'm going to start using some of the recipes in this forum, and when I go off to college in the fall I'll be able to eat whatever I want, so that will help a lot.

cut out things like mayo im pretty sure chipotle sauce is also mayo based which is really fattening. And sour cream is also pretty bad.

You can lose alot of weight by cutting out those high calorie add ons.

I think if I ever get to a point where I'm desperately trying to lose weight, I could cut those out. But light mayo and a small amount of sour cream when I go to Subway and Chipotle really increase the taste for me.

If my guilty pleasures are a squirt of light mayo on my sub and a little spoonful of sour cream on a burrito(although the burrito in itself is somewhat of a guilty pleasure) then I feel like I'm doing alright.

But I definitely agree with you. If I get stuck in a rut, those would probably be the first things to go.

Gatorade, pop, and Arizona Tea all contain high fructose corn syrup, which is just about the worst thing you can put in your body. It makes your liver create fat, it spikes your insulin, and it burns so fast that it makes you "bonk" super hard when it's over. Switch to unsweetened tea. When I absolutely HAVE to have a soda, I buy an organic soft drink at the local hippie mart that is flavored with sugar. But after a year of cutting out sugar, I now take my coffee black, my tea unsweetened, etc. If you can't kick sugar, at least dump high fructose corn syrup. It's like MSG, too; it's in everything. Start reading labels.

Eat breakfast. Eat a big breakfast and make your other meals light and small. I eat a big breakfast and eat my lunch in two sittings -- I eat half my lunch at ten and the other half at two.

And as the others said, lose the mayo and the sour cream. You will get used to life without it, I promise.

Yeah I know chicken is great when dieting, but since I am not trying to lose weight too terribly fast, I'm going to have a more varied diet.

Dunno. You've got to read the labels.

A lot of juices have high fructose corn syrup, too, BTW. Bottled juices and frozen juices, both. I have found a few that don't, however. You've just got to stay alert for it. Cutting it out really will help you feel better in general.

Yeah I really don't drink much juice. Well, V8 juice, which I actually completely forgot about until right now. But I'll definitely check that out. Thanks.
