    Caleb Plant: Strength & Weaknesses

Caleb Plant -- he has been interview several times since his fight on Saturday and when asked about Alvarez, he seems almost dismissive. Instead of saying I want to fight Alvarez next, he'll say "I'll fight anyone next" or "I'll fight anyone right here on FOX".

My question is: what are Plant strength and weaknesses?

You can list one or both.

Is being slick enough to beat Alvarez? everyone keeps bringing up the Lara fight as Alvarez Achilles heel.

I don’t think plantos slick at all, he tries to be but there are levels, I’d say he is a low level slick fighter... Benavidez or Canelo would punish this guy easily

plant looks like the type of fighter who can't take a punch and will wilt.

There are no middleweights or super middleweights that move like Lara. They are all probably 25lbs bigger fight night, much bigger targets than Lara and move much slower around the ring.

Weakness: Limited Power, Stamina might be shaky, NO INSIDE GAME

Strength: Very Quick, Excellent Hand Speed, Some Slickness Defensively, Fight Off The Backfoot Well, while he doesn't have a great Inside Game he is a Big Physical Strong Super Middleweight on the inside and can push his opponent around and off of him

Solid Fighter! I don't think he beats Canelo BUT with the right Gameplan anything is possible but he would have to be perfect for 12 to get a win over Canelo and I don't think he has the Stamina to be perfect for 12 Rounds. Honestly, him and Billy Joe fight somewhat Similar at least the BJS before the Nasal Spray Scandal who also fought with some slickness. Was able to out-slick Willie Monroe Jr which made for a boring fight but I was impressed with BJS that fight how he mixed things up very well that fight

I'd describe him as a boring runner and one dimensional. Nothing special, a clown.

Very well put. Guy is conditioned. Might have gas tank problems that haven’t been exposed. I think he’s a B+ champion. I rate him above billy Joe. I favor canelo against him.

True...but that's the argument Plant supporters make when saying he'll trouble Alvarez.

I thought Canelo clearly beat Lara in a close fight. Canelo damn near chared him out of the ring and landed the better harder punches and attacking the entire fight. Lara ran the whole fight but did land lots of punches in retreat. Since the Lara fight Canelo has steadily improved and is vastly better than he was when he fought Lara. Now Canelo is a very slick fighter himself and is punching very fast and hard and has become a great close range fighter and body puncher with a slick defense and counter attack. Slick fighters are no longer a problem for him because he is very slick himself with many other assets. Plant is a good fighter but Canelo keeps the fight at close range and beats him by KO in my opinion.

Excellent analysis of the Lara fight.
