I must admit that whilst watching Callum Smith struggle and toil to a hotly disputed decision against John Ryder, I couldn't help thinking that Saul Alvarez would be too tough and skilful for Smith. That will most likely be the case, but Calello is not really a pressure fighter in the raw sense of the word that Ryder is. What worries me for Smith more than his lack of roughness required to deter a brawler, is just how slick, measured and powerful that Canello looked against Kovalev. Smith may be a sharper shooter and more powerful than Crusher at this stage, but Alvarez was not only tougher, but quicker and much heavier handed. Smith has only one definitive advantage in my book, and that is range. A points victory is by far his best chance in my eyes.

false. Smith fought Ryder the same month Canelo fought Kovalev. Canelo didn’t utter smiths name until he began looking for an opponent for this past May which was clearly after the Ryder fight.

Naa that isn't a risk that's pure ******ity/chasing a bag.

Canelo is one of if not the only fighter who has the ability to pick & choose his opponents & it's been that way for close to a decade. There's no reason he shouldn't have fought the most skillful & talented unless he wasn't confident in his ability & I'm not talking about Floyd cause we know what that was on both parts.

yeah, good points. Andrade - what a wasted career - worst managed elite boxer the last decade. Still, he has been challenging Canelo since both were at 154. Problem is Canelo only fights twice a year at max.
Charlo is not really slick but I'd love to see that fight.

Did you bet on last night? I didn't but would have lost as I would have bet on a Canelo KO by body shot.

But yeah, my original point - Canelo's team do their research. For example I'd revise my opinion if he fought Beterbiev next but that fight will never happen until Artur shows some weakness.
